Kritzinger Architects have designed a contemporary villa on the tropical island of Mahe in the Seychelles. The villa is set on a sloping site and offers dramatic views over the Indian Ocean. The ground floor comprises a large open-plan living area, dining, kitchen and study, with three bedrooms located on the first floor. The villa is designed to open up completely, allowing cool sea air to naturally cross ventilate the building and enhance the feeling of outdoor living. The ground floor façade and outdoor terrace is shaded by a large slatted pergola which lets through controlled dappled light. Sliding timber and glass screens are designed to open up the bedrooms to the elements and provide a connection to the outdoors.
