Pavilion House

Kritzinger Architects have been appointed to undertake the sensitive refurbishment of a Mid-Century modernist home located in the leafy suburb of Higgovale, Cape Town. The award winning home was designed by Gilbert Colyn in 1969 and has been significantly altered over the years. The new restoration by our practice will focus on the removal of unnecessary partitions and structural elements that compromise the open plan flow of the dwelling. The interior will be re-designed to reflect the intent of Mid-Century pavilion style architecture, which is characterised by clean lines, functionality, open plan living and integration with nature. Inspiration for this restoration is drawn from the 1960's architecture of Craig Ellwood, in particular Kubly House, Rosen House and Sherman Oaks.   Building Plans have been submitted to the City of Cape Town for approval.
