House Somerset

Kritzinger Architects were appointed to transform an old dwelling into a new family home for a young family who grew up on the property.  Although the existing dwelling was outdated and of little aesthetic value, there were some charming elements which the owners wanted to subtly express in the new design such as the barn-like pitched roof and the large metal window on the South facing facade. Much of the existing foundations were retained, upon which the new structure was built. Corrugated iron roof and wall cladding were incorporated into the design as a nod to many of the barn structures found on nearby farms. The home is currently under construction and is expected to be complete end April 2021.
